One Scale, Every Page

A type system is the quiet infrastructure behind a coherent site. When headings, body copy, and captions all draw from one scale, a new landing page slots in without a designer re-deciding font sizes from scratch. That consistency is what lets a site grow to fifty pages without feeling like fifty different sites.

We anchor each project to a modular scale and express it as shared text styles — Display, Heading 2, Heading 3, Body — so the rules live in one place. Change the scale once and every page updates. It is the same principle as design tokens for color, applied to type.

Line Length and Rhythm

Readability is not only about size. We target roughly 60 to 75 characters per line for body copy, set line-height around 1.5 to 1.6, and keep vertical spacing on a consistent rhythm. Those three habits do more for how considered a site feels than any single typeface choice.
